Grzegorz Sęk joined the Group of Optical Spectroscopy of Nanostructures in 1995 (currently within the Department of Experimental Physics chaired by himself). He received his PhD in Physics from Wroclaw University of Technology in 2001, habilitation (post-doctoral) degree in 2010 and professorship in 2018. He specializes in investigation of the optical properties of novel semiconductor nanostructures and new semiconducting materials for photonic, electronic and optoelectronic applications. His research interests concern physics of low-dimensional structures, materials and heterostructures for mid-infrared lasers and their application in optical gas sensing, quantum electrodynamics in solid state systems, quantum light sources, exciton-polarions and their condensates, nanophotonics. He is an author or co-author of more than 240 scientific publications in high-rank international journals as Nature, Physical Review Letters, 2D Materials, Physical Review B, Applied Physics Letters, Optics Express, etc. They have been cited 2400 times (without self-citations) and his Hirsch index is 25.
